As a Senior Back-End Engineer, you will be responsible for designing and developing robust backend services for our digital health platform. Your expertise in Java, Spring Boot, and cloud-native architectures will help power secure, scalable, and modular solutions that support innovative healthcare applications for patients and caregivers.

What project we have for you

Be part of a mission-driven team building a comprehensive digital health ecosystem for chronic condition management. You’ll work closely with engineering, product, and clinical teams to deliver backend services that integrate seamlessly with user-facing applications and external healthcare systems.

What you will do

Architect and build secure, scalable backend services and APIs in Java to support frontend features and external integrations.
Design efficient database schemas for both SQL and NoSQL systems.
Ensure seamless integration with frontend applications and third-party healthcare platforms.
Implement robust authentication and authorization flows using AWS Cognito.
Apply secure development practices, especially when handling PHI and sensitive data.
Set up and maintain monitoring, analytics, and error tracking tools to ensure application stability.
Participate in code reviews, testing, and continuous improvement of engineering practices.
Work with DevOps and QA engineers to ensure CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

What you need for this

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
5+ years of experience in Java backend development (Java 21, Spring Boot, Lombok, JPA) with familiarity in modular services and cloud-native architecture.
Experience working with cloud infrastructure (AWS).
Strong knowledge of RESTful API design, implementation, and integration with frontend applications.
Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases and efficient schema design for large-scale data systems.
Experience with containerization technologies like Docker.
Experience with authentication/authorization solutions like AWS Cognito and Amazon API Gateway.
Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate across global, cross-functional teams.
Comfortable working in fast-paced environments with shifting priorities.

Nice to Have:

Familiarity with FHIR, HL7, and other healthcare interoperability standards.
Strong grasp of security and privacy best practices (HIPAA, HITECH, GDPR) for handling PHI.
