What project we have for you

Our client, a leading software and services provider for communications and media companies, is establishing the Support and Maintenance team for newly launched project in Ukraine, so looking for strong and motivated support personnel with experience in operating high-performing, scalable, enterprise-grade applications and frameworks (On-prem OpenShift, Kubernetes, HBase, Kafka). You will be part of a talented software engineering team that is servicing the next generation of our product using micro services technology stack.

Take responsibility on operations and support of Production BSS (Telecom Billing, rating, ordering, PCRF, network provisioning, IVR, Product catalog and API) IT project in ensuring the Maintenance and services operations SLA. Ensure solution meets customer business and technical needs by leveraging out clients IT assets and best practices while considering IT strategic goals.

What you will do

In one sentence: 

  • The DB administrator is handling applicative database administration supporting production activities.  

Responsibilities:

  • 24/7 support of production database services to ensure the highest standards of availability, resilience, integrity, security and performance required by our business systems. 
  • Upgrade, Maintain and apply application DB patches on Development, Test and production Environment. 
  • Management and maintenance of back-ups & recovery procedures. 
  • Monitoring different databases, addressing the alerts and taking necessary steps. 
  • Participate in on-call rotations and provide timely incident response and resolution. 

What you need for this

Critical Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). 
  • Proven experience as a Production DBA or in a similar role. 
  • Experience working in Linux environment. 
  • Knowledge of PostgreSQL, HBase, or Couchbase is a plus. 

Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience.
  • Good Knowledge of Recovery Scenarios and configuration of Backup.  
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple tasks simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to Investigate, debug, and reproduce issues, provide fixes and workarounds, and verify changes to ensure continued operability of the database architecture.
  • Willing to work in shifts and weekend support model.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work effectively in fast-paced environments.
  • Must have the ability to see the full End to End picture, including impact on the customer. 

Will be a plus:

  • Familiarity with Business Support System (BSS). 
  • Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK stack, Grafana).
