The Intellias project “Life-saving words: Internal Communication at war” about internal communications in the aftermath of Russia’s full-scale attack on February 24, 2022, was named among the finalists of the European Excellence Awards 2022. Giving round-the-clock access to information from the first hours of the full-scale invasion and securing uninterrupted communication, our team created the safest possible conditions for the company’s employees.

Intellias was one of the five finalists in the Internal Communications category, chosen from a big number of participants. The “Life-saving words” project unites all internal communication channels, which enabled the team to act promptly, stay in touch with colleagues, provide them with informational assistance, and support their mental health.

When the full-scale invasion started, Intellias key objective was to keep its people safe. As of February 24, about 2,500 specialists worked in 5 offices in Ukraine, including Lviv, Kyiv, Ivano-Frankivsk, Kharkiv, and Odesa, as well as remotely in different parts of the country.

With the help of unimpeded 24/7 communication, the team managed to evacuate 1,300 employees and their families from dangerous regions to safer areas in the west of Ukraine. More than 300 female specialists and their relatives were evacuated to Poland, where Intellias also has delivery centers.

In the first days of the full-scale war, people’s lives and the future of our business depended on timely and clear communication. For us, the greatest recognition of our work was the kind words of gratitude that we received from our colleagues. By the way, we literally recorded their voices and shared the texts that they sent us in the first weeks of the invasion.

In just 4 days after the invasion, 75% of technical specialists got back to work. In 2 weeks, the team returned to the pre-war level of work.

Watching Russia’s preparations for the full-scale invasion in November 2021, Intellias has updated its Business Continuity Plan. Following the plan and providing continuous internal communication, the team managed to secure a smooth process of evacuation, relocation, and adjustment for the team members.

Internal communication was focused on strengthening the team’s spirit. We provided up-to-date information at town halls and in regular emails from the CEO. In addition to the already existing wide range of communication channels, we also launched local channels, where people could talk or look for accommodation and transfers. We encouraged colleagues to express their gratitude, initiating a “Thank you” campaign on internal communication platforms.
