Our client is a UK-based building merchant, part of a leading Scandinavian group, undergoing a major IT transformation. The programme will decommission the legacy enterprise data bus and rebuild ecommerce capabilities on a modern, scalable architecture — with a new API layer powering digital channels including the website and mobile app.
What project we have for you
As a Senior Backend / API Developer you will join a multi-vendor delivery team led by the client’s architects, taking a hands-on role in designing and building the APIs and backend services at the heart of the new platform. This is a greenfield opportunity within an enterprise-scale programme.
What you will do
• Develop and implement complete solutions
• Participate in functional requirements analysis (including communication with customer
representatives)
• Describe and investigate technical design options
• Focus on solving complex tasks in a simple way with a given technology
• Participate in continuous improvements, including platform tooling and processes,
implementing best practices and bringing on innovations
• Enforcement of non-functional requirements
• Perform code reviews and code optimizations
• Support of deployment and release processes, troubleshoot production issues
• Take responsibility and ownership of project components, master domain knowledge
• Mentor and supervise newcomers and less experienced engineers
• Participate in hiring process
What you need for this
- 5+ years of experience in Software Engineering
- Strong knowledge of C# and CLR in .NET framework
- Rich experience with common .NET frameworks such as ASP.NET and Entity Framework
- Experience in usage and design of relational databases
- Experience in unit testing with xUnit and Moq
- Strong understanding of design patterns, microservice architecture, distributed systems and message brokers
- Strong knowledge of RESTful web services and API design
- Experience with containerization tools such as Docker Version control experience including Git, Git-flow and branch strategy
- Experience in configuring CI/CD pipelines
- Familiar with non-relational databases
- Familiar with Azure
- Strong understanding of authentication and authorization concepts and standards, including OAuth 2.0 and OpenID Connect
- Strong knowledge of SQL and stored procedures, with practical experience working with Microsoft SQL Server
Will be a plus:
• Approach: Infrastructure as a Code
• Experience in Cloud Computing (Azure)
• Kubernetes
• Experience with message brokers (Azure Service Bus, RabbitMQ, Kafka, etc.)
