As a Senior Machine Learning Engineer – Agentic AI, you will design, build, and operate enterprise-scale agentic AI platforms that enable autonomous and semi-autonomous AI systems to function safely, reliably, and efficiently across healthcare environments. You will drive platform architecture, AI governance, interoperability standards, evaluation frameworks, and operational safeguards while collaborating with architects, data scientists, software engineers, and healthcare stakeholders.

What project we have for you

Our client is a world-leading cancer center focused on advancing healthcare through innovation, research, and clinical excellence. The organization is investing in enterprise-wide agentic AI capabilities to support clinical, research, and operational processes while maintaining the highest standards of safety, governance, compliance, and auditability. The platform enables secure deployment of autonomous AI systems in highly regulated healthcare environments where reliability and trust are critical.

What you will do

  • Lead the design, evolution, and operation of the enterprise agentic AI platform.
  • Build platform capabilities for agent interoperability, identity, memory, state management, orchestration, and policy enforcement.
  • Define standardized integration patterns connecting AI agents with enterprise systems, APIs, data platforms, and healthcare applications.
  • Develop reusable platform services, SDKs, and reference implementations for engineering teams.
  • Design and operate validation frameworks including simulation, shadow execution, sandboxing, behavior monitoring, and controlled releases.
  • Establish development standards, execution contracts, observability requirements, and evaluation mechanisms for agentic systems.
  • Implement safeguards including approval workflows, rollback mechanisms, audit trails, rate limiting, fallback strategies, and kill switches.
  • Collaborate with engineering, security, governance, and healthcare stakeholders to deliver production-ready AI solutions.
  • Support responsible AI practices through transparency, traceability, monitoring, and documentation of risks and limitations.
  • Participate in governance, release management, incident investigation, and remediation activities.

What you need for this

Must-have

  • 5+ years of experience in Machine Learning Engineering, Data Science, Data Engineering, or Software Engineering.
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience building and deploying agentic AI systems.
  • Strong Python expertise and experience with modern ML frameworks such as PyTorch.
  • Hands-on experience with agentic AI frameworks including LangGraph, LangChain, AutoGen, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, or similar.
  • Experience designing AI/ML platforms serving multiple production teams and workloads.
  • Knowledge of agent interoperability standards, MCP, agent-to-agent communication, and structured tool invocation.
  • Experience implementing planner-executor architectures, hierarchical agents, and multi-agent systems.
  • Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Airflow, Prefect, or Temporal.
  • Experience with distributed execution frameworks such as Ray.
  • Strong Kubernetes and cloud-native platform engineering experience.
  • Understanding of healthcare, data governance, security, privacy, and regulated environments.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Will be a plus

  • Healthcare or Health IT background.
  • Master’s degree or PhD in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, Statistics, or related fields.
  • Experience evaluating third-party agentic AI platforms.
  • Experience with simulation environments, shadow execution, sandboxing, and canary deployments.
  • Experience establishing engineering standards, reproducibility practices, and review frameworks.
  • Experience supporting incident response and post-production troubleshooting of autonomous AI agents.
