Our client is a company that enables people, enterprises, and cities to harness the power of location. By making sense of the world through the lens of location, it empowers their customers to achieve better outcomes from helping a city manage its infrastructure or an enterprise optimize its assets to delivering drivers to their destination safely.
This project is enhancing its Data Aggregation Service as part of a new delivery pipeline that extends the existing UniMap (UnIM) work. The service aggregates Vehicle Probe Data (VPD) — raw sensor data collected from vehicles (not imagery) — and extracts features from it to support map alignment (VPD2 Map Alignment).
The service is polyglot: most components are JVM-based (Java, Scala, Python), but a meaningful part of the aggregation algorithms exist in C++ and C#. These algorithms are containerized (Docker) and plugged into the service so the pipeline can invoke them to process incoming vehicle sensor data. This role will focus on productionizing, maintaining, and enhancing that C++/C# algorithm layer.
This is an extension to an existing, distributed team with members based in India, the US, and Europe. The India-based hires will report to the India engineering manager and work closely with global team members across time zones — not in isolation
The Senior Data Scientist will work on the algorithmic core of the VPD aggregation pipeline — the C++/C# based algorithms used to process raw vehicle sensor data for map alignment. A robotics background, particularly experience with SLAM (Simultaneous Localization and Mapping) based approaches, is strongly preferred, as it maps closely to the techniques used in this domain (localization, mapping, and environment modeling from sensor data).
